Friday Finds! (#4)

Okay so here are this weeks picks!!!

Falling by J. Bennett

Girl With Broken Wings Book 1

Book Description (From Goodreads)

Maya knew something was wrong... The stranger’s glowing hands were a big tipoff.

When the stranger murders Maya’s boyfriend with a single touch and injects the college sophomore with a DNA-altering serum, Maya prays for a savior. Instead, she gets a double helping of knight-in-not-so-shining-armor when two young men claiming to be her half-brothers pull off a belated rescue.

Now Maya is swiftly transforming into an “angel”, one of the scientifically enhanced, energy-sucking creatures her brothers have spent their whole lives trying to destroy. Maya’s senses sharpen, her body becomes strong and agile, and she develops the ability to visually see the emotions of those around her as colorful auras…beautiful auras…tempting auras.

Struggling to control the murderous appetite that fuels her new abilities, this reluctant protagonist must find a way to accept her new condition and learn to trust her angel-hunting brothers as she joins them in their fight against the powerful and destructive creatures.

On the up side, at least Maya’s eldest brother has stopped trying to kill her!

My Thoughts

The scientifically enhanced "angels" that are described, sound way different than the angels that I am used to reading about. It sounds like Maya is going to have some trouble adjusting to her new "powers" and her newly found half-brothers. Her brothers actually hunt creatures just like her! There will definitely be some crazy family drama going on here! Overall it sounds very intriguing and different than what I am used to. Also, if you read more on Goodreads, after the description there is a paragraph that compares this book to one of my favorite shows, Supernatural!!

Dead Radiance by T.G. Ayer

A Valkyrie Novel by T.G. Ayer

Book Description (From Goodreads)

Bryn Halbrook had always seen the glow. But it is only when her best friend dies that she discovers the meaning of those beautiful golden auras — Death. Alone, lost in the foster system, she struggles to understand who she is and why she was cursed with the ability to see the soon-to-be-dead.

The new foster kid, Aidan, isn’t helping any. Mr. Perfect seems to fit in no matter what, making her feel even more pathetic. But when his affections turn to her, Bryn finds him hard to resist. Impossible actually. A mystery himself, Aidan disappears, leaving behind a broken heart and a mysterious book that suggests Bryn might not be entirely human.

Bryn stands at the threshold of a journey of discovery. Will destiny help her find herself, find her purpose and her place in a world in which she’d never belonged?

My Thoughts

After reading up some more about Dead Radiance, I learned that it is actually about mythology, and not just any mythology! It is the kind of mythology that involves the realm of Asgard! You may be thinking what's so special about Asgard? Okay well one word, or name really, Loki! Yes, this book actually involves the god of mischief and I could not be more excited about it! I only hope that he lives up to the picture that Tom Hiddleston has created in the Marvel movies!
